How to Generate Income With Google Adsense
There are a lot of ways to monetize your website, but one of the most dominating forms of internet advertising for any blog is Google Adsense. Starting June 18, 2003, Adsense has grown over the past 8 years into a multi-billion dollar industry. In the first quarter of 2011, Google earned US$2.34 billion through its adsense program alone. All of that information aside, there are some considerations you have to take into consideration if you want see some real income from Google Adsense.
More Traffic
This is the most obvious of tactics, so I will mention it first. Part of Adsense is a numbers game, and the first rule of getting people to click on the ads is to have serious traffic coming to your website. Without traffic, you will not make a dime with Adsense. If you are struggling with traffic, I would suggest checking out Driving Traffic to Your Website or Blog for Free for some assistance on getting the traffic you need.
The Right Placement
Where you place the ads on your page is very important when it comes to if the user will click on them. Ideally, you will want your viewer to see the ads at the exact moment when they are thinking about what to do next. There are many different thoughts and strategies out there when it comes to placement, but I have found somewhere unobtrusive near the end of the article gets the best results.
Seamless Integration
When it comes to marketing, you want eye catching content on the page. You want an ad that stands out to draw people’s attention. The strange thing with Adsense is that you want your ad to blend nicely with your page, not to stand out. Anybody who uses the internet has seen these ads, and a lot of people are desensitized to them. Matching your ad colors to your website is the best approach to displaying the ads as interesting content, but not drawing attention to the fact that they are paid ads.
Focus on a Niche
Sticking to a specific niche topic is essential to quality clicks. You want your ads to be specifically tailored to the content on your page. Ideally, if you tailor your niche so that the ads appear as an extension of your content, the clickthrough rate will improve.
Target Keywords
You want your content to flow smoothly, but you need to make sure the article has the right keywords in order to get the proper ads to display. If the ads displayed matches the topic of the content, then it is more likely the viewer will click on them.
Filter Irrelevant Ads
This is almost an extension of the tip above. If your Adsense ads are displaying ads that have nothing to do with the content on the page, then they need to be removed. People are engaged in the topic that you have shown them, so more than likely they will be drawn to ads that support it.
The one thing to keep in mind is that if you are implementing Adsense on a new website that it will take time before the real income comes in. If you have the right traffic and the right placement, then you have won 90% of the battle. The other 10% is just the luck of the click, the right ads at the right time.
So on that note, I wish you good luck.
